Pamela Castro-Humar

Obituary of Pamela Susan Castro-Humar

Pam passed away peacefully in her home in Monterey from complications of COPD after fighting a month long battle against COVID-19.

Pam was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Born and raised in Monterey County, she was dedicated to her family and to her community throughout her life. Her smile and joy brought warmth to those around her and her love for others was admirable. Anyone who knew Pam well knew that her greatest joy was spending time with loved ones, especially her grandbabies.

Pam is survived by her daughter, Tina Marie Hunter, and her grandchildren, Dante Van and Frida Maria Hunter, who were her pride and joy. She is also survived by her siblings Arthur (Louise) Gomez, Bill (Sue) Gomez, Linda Gomez Garcia, Chris (Anita) Rutledge, and Laurie Slusher. Also, her best friend Luis Echevarria Jr. and the kids she loved like her own, Luis and Kristina Echevarria. Also, many nieces and nephews all over the country.. She is preceded in death by her loving mother Maria Covington, and her father Elmo Rutledge, as well as her brother Mark Rutledge, and her sisters Tammy Rutledge, and Donna Yokogawa.

The family would like to send a special thank you to Linda Garcia for caring for Pam in her last few weeks. They would also like to thank Pam’s medical team at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula for their dedication and support in ensuring Pam’s comfort.

Services will be held at Mission Memorial Park in Seaside at 1915 Ord Grove Ave. on Friday, March 5th at 11:00 am starting with visitation and services to follow at 1pm. Followed by a funeral procession to City of Monterey Cemetery with burial at 2:30. Special thanks to Bermudez Family Funeral and Cremation, for their facilitation of the final Arrangements.
